This opportunity is open to college students of all majors with interests in the natural world, particularly botany and horticulture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Summer interns work three days per week for approximately 14 weeks, completing 400 hours. Through the course of the summer, students will:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-401 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/starhillforest.com\/wp1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/FourMonkeys_SX-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"343\" height=\"257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/starhillforest.com\/wp1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/FourMonkeys_SX-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/starhillforest.com\/wp1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/FourMonkeys_SX-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/starhillforest.com\/wp1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/FourMonkeys_SX-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/starhillforest.com\/wp1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/FourMonkeys_SX-640x480.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 343px) 100vw, 343px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Learn about tree biology and identification<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plant new trees in a world-class collection<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maintain the nursery<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Water, prune, weed, and care for a wide variety of plants<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identify and manage pests<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gain experience with the arboretum\u2019s GIS mapping system<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Collaborate on current research and special projects<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Identify and manage invasive species<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and small equipment<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assist with tree removals<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Complete small construction projects<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visit local natural areas and historic sites with links to the arboretum\u2019s miss<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ion<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Experience the natural world first hand!<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-396 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/starhillforest.com\/wp1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/20140715_160235-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/starhillforest.com\/wp1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/20140715_160235-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/starhillforest.com\/wp1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/20140715_160235-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To apply for con<\/span>sideration as an intern at Starhill Forest Arboretum, submit a cover letter and resum\u00e9 (or\u00a0curriculum vitae) as one PDF file by February 14th, 2020.
