During the workshop at George Washington's River Farm, Guy taught participants how to plant trees
grown in containers. The group dug right in while Guy barked instructions,
took these photos,
and kept his clothes clean for the ride back to the airport!

WASH EXCESS POTTING MIX
FROM THE ROOTS, PRIOR TO PLANTING

WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS SPREADING THE ROOTS RADIALLY PRIOR TO BACKFILLING TO PREVENT ROOT GIRDLING LATER


STEP 3

MAKING SURE THE TREE IS HELD PLUMB
AND SET AT THE RIGHT DEPTH DURING BACKFILLING

STEP 4
SOAKING TO SETTLE THE BACKFILL SOIL BEFORE APPLYING MULCH
TO COVER THE TOP OF THE ROOTBALL
