Guy Meilleur from North Carolina, Board Certified Master Arborist and friend of Starhill Forest, gives a tree preservation workshop
The trees were prepared in advance, with most of the aerial work being done ahead of time. He then gave a three-hour intensive presentation of cabling, pruning, lightning protection, root flare inspection, disease and insect inspection, and other aspects of managing mature trees. About 50 people crowded around the trees to see how the work is done, and the Certified Arborists in the group were able to earn three CEU credits toward re-certification.

Arbor Day Support
Menard County District Conservationist Marilyn Kelton is accepting a donation of 175 young trees from Guy Sternberg, of Starhill Forest Arboretum.
Every third-grader in the county was given a Starhill seedling to plant on Arbor Day 2009.
Several trees now growing on public land in and around Petersburg, including sites such as the nursing home, the animal shelter, the county jail, and Gazebo Park, also came from Starhill Forest.
